What can I import into HLD Author?
HLD Author is a browser-based tool for preparing media for Hololuminescent™ Displays. It can work with video, images, and supported 3D files.
Open HLD Author at hldauthor.lookingglassfactory.com. A current version of Chrome is recommended for WebGPU and HEVC export support.
Supported video formats
- MP4
- MOV
- WEBM
Video tools include positioning, scaling, framing, chroma key, spill removal, edge softness, and shadow controls.
Supported image formats
- JPG and JPEG
- PNG
- WEBP
- GIF
- SVG
Image effects include Float, Extrude and rotate, and Mask and depth. Mask and depth uses locally processed AI models to separate the subject and generate depth.
Supported 3D formats
- GLB
- GLTF
- PLY
- OBJ
- STL
- FBX
GLB or GLTF is recommended for textured models. OBJ material libraries and textures are not currently imported.
For supported 3D media, HLD Author provides transform, environment, lighting, shadow, animation, and export-camera controls.
Framing your content
HLDs use a 9:16 portrait canvas. Keep the subject inside the holographic alcove so it does not visually overflow the available volume.
