How do I make content for the HLD?
Hololuminescent Displays use standard 9:16 portrait video. The holographic effect comes from framing the subject inside the display’s fixed alcove, so the content workflow is different from creating multi-view content for a Light Field Display.
Use HLD Author
HLD Author is the quickest way to prepare content. It runs in Chrome and can import videos, images, and 3D media.
- Import your source media.
- Position and scale it on the 9:16 canvas.
- Use the alcove guide to keep the subject inside the holographic volume.
- Apply chroma key, shadow, lighting, or image effects as needed.
- Export for your display model and playback system.
See the HLD Author guide for supported formats and export targets.
Other content pipelines
- Video editors: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and similar tools can create properly framed portrait video.
- 3D tools: Blender, Cinema 4D, and similar applications can render portrait video for HLD playback.
- Real-world footage: Film a subject against a light solid background or green screen, then remove the background and add a grounding shadow.
- AI-generated video: Prepare the final result using the same 9:16 framing guidelines.
Real-time applications
The HLD 16-inch, 27-inch, and 86-inch models can display a live signal from a computer, so Unity, Unreal Engine, or a custom application can render directly to the display. See Creating real-time HLD applications.
