What software do the Looking Glass Light Field Displays need in order to run?

The software you need depends on the Looking Glass model and whether you are using it standalone or connected to a computer.

Current Light Field Displays connected to a computer

Looking Glass Bridge is required. Bridge is the connection layer used by desktop applications, browser experiences, and developer tools. Install it before using a current, non-legacy Looking Glass in computer-connected mode.

Looking Glass Studio is optional. Studio is a desktop media player for quilt and RGBD images and videos. Install it when you want local media playback or playlist tools; it is not required for every application.

Looking Glass Go

Standalone Mode: use the Go mobile app and Looking Glass Blocks to set up the display, create holograms, and synchronize playlists over Wi-Fi.
Desktop Mode: install Looking Glass Bridge. Use Studio only if you also want desktop playback of quilt or RGBD media.

Looking Glass Portrait

Install Looking Glass Bridge for the computer connection and Looking Glass Studio for local playback and standalone playlist synchronization.

Earlier legacy displays

Displays released before Looking Glass Portrait use HoloPlay Service rather than Looking Glass Bridge. See the legacy hardware documentation.
