Why do I have to use an app to set up my Looking Glass Go?

The Go mobile app is designed to provide your Looking Glass Go with over-the-air (OTA) firmware update capabilities. While not strictly necessary for using your Go, the app provides functionalities beyond the firmware update, such as playlist management and syncing.
